Northend host Coerver Coaching Day

With the World Cup in full swing, the ambitious Northend Club have pulled off a major first for the town when they hosted a Coerver Coaching day at the Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday.

Coerver Coaching have recently been enrolled by the Irish FA to coach their Elite Development Squads and hold prestigious endorsements from Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson to name but
a few.

The “Play it like the Stars” coaching session, hosted by Austin Speight and Stephen Lynch from Coerver Coaching, marked another step in the strategic developmental plan entered into between Northend and Coerver last summer and is already beginning to bear fruit with some outstanding prospects beginning to come through the Club’s younger teams.

The morning coaching session was followed on Saturday afternoon from with a Coerver Coaches development and training session, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, for the Club’s newest coaching staff.

FOYLE CUP

As this year’s Foyle Cup gets closer, Northend U10s and U13s are busy preparing for their debuts in the tournament, taking place from Monday, July 21 to Saturday, July 26.

The U10 Northend Boys will play in the mini-soccer section and have been drawn against Clonmany Shamrocks, Trojans, Saint Oliver Plunketts, Bertie Peacock Youths and East Donegal Colts.

Northend United U13s have been drawn in a tough group which pits the local Ballymena Boys against the hosts Derry City in a match which promises to draw a huge crowd of spectators and visiting scouts alike. In addition, the Northend Boys have been drawn against Shankill Colts and another top local side, Institute, in what promises to be another close game.

The U13s have wasted no time getting back into training and have already played a number of matches, including recording a good 2-1 win in midweek over Larne Youth U13s from the National League. Conor McGarry and Robert Iovu were on target for the Northend Blues, in this match where the boys turned in another good team performance.

Training for the U10s and U13s continues each Monday night at Eaton Park 6.30pm to 8.00pm and any boy interested in playing for either Northend U10s or U13s in the season ahead should attend this training.

Both of the Foyle Cup Northend teams will also be taking part in the opening ceremony on Tuesday, July 22 morning, which is preceded by a parade of all the teams through the streets of the Maiden City

A full list of the U13 Northend Boys scheduled group matches is as follows:

Monday, July 21 Northend United Vrs Shankill Colts with a 3.00pm kick off at Newbuildings; Tuesday, July 22: Institute Vrs Northend United with a 4.00pm kick off at St. Columbs Park 2; Wednesday, July 23 Northend United v Derry City with a 3.45pm kick off at Thornhill College.

U19 TEAM FOR 2014/15

SEASON

The U19 team is now up and running and the management team of Phil Hanlon and Mickey Tolan are looking forward to getting a number of friendly fixtures under their belt as the team prepares for a pre-season tournament. The team will play in the NIFL Youth League next season.

With Wakehurst offering four teams next season, including their Championship 2 team, the Club are looking for a number of youth team players to progress throughout the Club. All interested players should get in contact with Phil Hanlon on 07588353386 or email: [email protected]
