The competition started with a beginners’ race for boys and girls.

Riders from further afield including Dublin and Londonderry were also expected to show off their skills on the quarter pipe and ramp.

To “add a touch of glamour”, television and radio personalities were invited to take part in a celebrity race.

The meeting was built around the Northern Ireland Championships with an entry of over 100 expected.
