Nostalgia: Patricia wins Waterford award
A top award from the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera came the way of Lurgan Operatic Society in 1977.
Patricia Cafolla won the Frank Ryan Cup for the best Irish singer in the title role of the Society’s production of Maritza.
The adjudicator said: “Patricia has a most beautiful voice. Her whole approach to the part was exactly right.”
The Society also received a special award for lighting which was directed by Aubrey McShane.
