Policeman followed a dog home

A policeman followed a dog home before he made his ‘collar’ a court heard in 1975.

The officer was part of foot patrol in the Legahory area when he was confronted by the dog.

The Red Setter was barking a lot and tried to bite him. He followed the animal to its home and questioned the onwer.

She told the court she had been asleep when the dog, sleeping in the kitchen, began to bark.

She thought there there was an intruder and she got up and let the dog out of the front door.

Conducting her own defence she succeeded in having one of the three charges she faced dropped.

But she was found guilty of the other two and fined £1 for not having a dog licence and £1 for having a dog at large during the hours of darkness.
