IN the Intermediate Division Brantwood, Rasharkin United and Newtowne notched up their second wins on the trot and are setting the early pace at the top of the league table and have certainly put a marker down as to their intentions.

The Juniors started off on Saturday with Ballymoney United Reserves and Ballyclare Comrades Reserves recording big wins on the day.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

Desertmartin 1 v 3 Rasharkin United

Rasharkin were soon into their stride in this game on Friday night taking the lead in the 14th minute after Lee Barr scored. Rasharkin continued to press forward and doubled their lead when Samuel McConaghie scored in the 30th minute.

Half-time was then beckoning when Rasharkin went three goals in front when Samuel McConaghie his second goal in the 40th minute.

In the second half Desertmartin came more into the game and had chances to reduce the deficit before Robin Patton scored in the 80th minute but this was the only time Desertmartin breached the Rasharkin defence. Referee: Mr. Mervyn McAleese

Clough Rangers Athletic 0 v 3 Raceview

This game played on Friday night was a typical Derby game but its goals that count and in this department Raceview were much sharper than Clough.

The first goal in the game came in the 44th minute Boyd Matthews scoring putting Raceview in front at the break. Raceview then went onto double their lead with a good goal scored by Craig Collins in the 65th minute this being followed by a second goal scored by Boyd Matthews ensuring Raceview all three points. Newtone FC 3 v 0 Kilbride Swifts

Newtowne recorded their second win on the trot with this victory over Kilbride. Newtowne were on the attack early and took the lead after Marty Larkin headed in on the 25th minute.

Half-time was then approaching when Rory O’Reilly scored a second goal for Newtowne on the 38th minute giving them a two goal cushion at the interval. Kilbride tried hard to get back into the game in the second half but after Conor O’Hare scored a third for Newtowne on the 75th minute then points were safe.

Dunloy 1 v 2 Brantwood

This was a corker of a game between two evenly matched teams who had scored twelve goals between them the previous Saturday. This time both defences were in top form and clear chances had to be earned resulting in no goals being scored in the first-half. The second half was a carbon copy of the first then on the 83rd minute Benny McGarry scored to put Dunloy in front but then saw Brantwood equalise after Seamus McClenaghan scored on the 86th minute. Both teams then went for the winning goal which went to Brantwood when Jordan Kernoghan scored on the 90th minute. Referee Mr. Jonathan McCrudden

Tobermore United Res 2 v 2 Desertmartin Swifts

The Swifts were soon on the goal trail with Paul Fulton scoring on the 7th minute putting them in front and this score remained until Stewart Bradley scored for Tobermore on the 30th minute leaving the teams level at half-time. Desertmartin went in front for a second time when Malcolm Watterson scored on the 55th minute but Tobermore came back to equalise through William Hassan on the 75th minute which saw the teams get a point each at the end of play. Ballyclare Com Res 10 v 2 Larne Olympic

This was a tough baptism for Larne in their first game but no doubt they will learn from the experience.

Ballyclare took the lead on the 8th minute through Aaron Ibbinson and went in at half-time four two in front with further goals scored by David Higgins, Kevin O’Hare and Aaron Ibbinson against two scored by Philip Monaghan for Larne. Ballyclare went on to score Six more goals in the second half through Keith Armstrong 2, David Higgins 2, Kevin Bond 1 and Aaron Ibbinson 1. Referee Mr. Lee Patterson

Ballymoney United Res 10 v 0 Chimney Corner Res

Ballymoney lead by six goals to nil at half-time and went on to score another four in the second half without reply. Ballymoney goals were scored by Mark Dempsey 3, Ian Christie 2, Lee McClelland 2, Chris Wilson 1, Andy Atkinson 1 and Trevor McLernon 1. Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

Magherafelt Sky Blues Res 2 v 3 Killymoon Rangers Res

Killymoon were on the attack early taking the lead after Steven McIlhatton scored on the 20th minute and then doubled this lead after Conal Kilpatrick scored on the 40th minute. Magherafelt got back into the game after Mendes scored on the 56th minute but then saw Killymoon go two goals clear again when Steven Purvis scored on the 75th minute. Time was then running out when McKay scored for the Sky Blues on the 90th minute. Referee Mr. Mark O’Neil

LEAGUE

Woodlands 4 v 2 Carnlough Swifts

Woodlands took the lead after Jonny Parkes scored on the volley and added to this shortly after when Clarke Stockman scored. Carnlough came back into the game and a brace of goals scored by Dion Tsang saw them back on level terms. After this both teams created chances before Steve grant scored to put Woodlands back in front and after Myles Tyrell scored a fourth for Woodlands the points were safe. Referee Mr. Jason Reaney

Antrim Rovers 4 v 2 Wakehurst Strollers

Wakehurst were first on attack and went on to take the lead after Jon Alexander scored on the 16th minute a lead they held until Alan Moore scored the equaliser for the Rovers on the 40th minute. The Rovers than went in front on the 74th minute when Jamie Jackson scored and increased this when James Stewart scored on the 78th and 82nd minutes. Wakehurst never gave up the chase but it was too late when Darren Rodgers scored on the 87th minute. Referee Mr. Brian Leitch
