Plenty of thrills and spills at Aghadowey

Monday 1st April saw the start of a new race season at the Aghadowey Raceway, although it was a cold it was a dry sunny day, the perfect conditions for racing.

The meet started off with the Junior Rods and this class was to have some new drivers out, but young Peter Stewart was a non-starter due to his car having a major part break during the warm up laps and this put him out for the rest of the race on the day. The winner in the final was Micheal Gaffin from Ballymena. Micheal drove well in this class and showed that he is one of the major drivers in this year’s race championship.

Next out were the Lightning Rods and this again this class had some new drivers with new cars. Karl McFaul is been one of the newcomers but he showed great pace and battled hard with Clifford Nevin in the early battles, but he was to be the one on the day to take the win in the final.

The Bangers were up next and this is the class that always has plenty of race action. The final was dominated by the McFaul family with William junior just edging out his senior.
