Pool league starts in spectacular fashion

There was no sign of rustiness from the players as the Ballymena Towers Pool League season began last week.

There were a number of eight-ball clearances inckuding a remarkable FIVE clearances in the match between Minnesota Inbetweeners and Towers Tavern!

Coach 4, Moat B 2: Coach got off to a good start when Adrian Rouke had a 2-0 win over Steven Magill and this included an 8ball clearance. Frazer Young increased the lead for the Coach with a win in straight frames over Adele Rutherford. Moat hit back through Dean Robinson who came from behind to win 2-1 against Jordan Savage. William Wilson levelled the match score at 2-2 with a 2-1 win over Chris Gordon. David Carlisle restored the lead for the Coach and in the final game Malcolm Graffin had a 2-1 win over Daniel Magill. Fairhill Hustlers 3, Connolly’s 3: Glenn Mairs set the Hustlers on the way with a 2-1 win over Don McKeown. Pat McAnally levelled the match with a 2-0 win over Sean Brannigan. Dee Irwin put Connolly’s into the lead in the match with a win in straight frames over Justin Kilpatrick. Kieran Butler made the match score 3-1 with a 2-0 over Ritchie Irwin. Hustlers then started a comeback and George McCullough had a 2-1 win over Ian Boal and in the final game Rab Graham had a 2-1 win over Pat McAnally Snr. POM - Glenn Mairs.

Social Club 0, Michelin Masters 6: Jimmy Knowles got Michelin off to a flyer with a win in straight frames over Steven Beagan. David Armstrong increased the lead for Michelin with a 2-0 win over Marc McMullan. In the third game Albert McBride won the first frame for Social Club but Rick McMaster hit back to win 2-1 and leave the match score at 3-0 for the Masters. The final three games all went the way of Michelin by 2-0 scorelines for Brian Hanna, Alan Armstrong and Chris Penny. POM - Alan Armstrong.

Moat A 4, Fairhill Rockets 2: Barry Weir put the home team ahead with a win in straight frames over Allister Lowry. The next three games all went to Moat and all by 2-0 scorelines for Michael Thompson, Darren Campbell and Alan Rainey. Rockets hit back through Ian Dewar who had a win in straight frames over David Nicholl. In the final game Linzi McClelland had a 2-1 win over Stewarty. POM - Ian Dewar.

Minnesota Inbetweeners 4, Towers Tavern 2: In the first game Drew Sloan had two 8ball clearances in his 2-1 win over Marc Higgins. In the second game Shane Moody had an 8ball clearance against Paul Francey. The champions hit back through Gary Ormandy who had a clearance. Ryan Logan levelled the match score at 2-2 with awin over Dean Greer and this also included an 8ball clearance. Philip Houston put Inbetweeners ahead for the first time with a win over James Millar. In the final game Gareth Rowe came from behind to beat K.D. Crabbe.
