Promotion hopes hit as Fours lose out

South Antrim Fourths failed to draw level on points with second placed Down Firsts on Saturday when they lostout 3-2.

Playing on Down’s gravel pitch, South went behind early on before Down soon doubled their lead.

That left it all to do but Callum McCandless got a goal back before the break.

Keeper Andrew Wallace, however, was powerless to stop Down’s third. The goalkeeper was actually having a good game and kept his team in the game with a number of saves.

He got his reward when South’s superstar striker Junior made it 3-2 after Archie Collins hit the post.

That was all South could muster in what was a blow to their promotion hopes.
