Rainey and McAllister claim final silverware at Festival of Pool

Alan Rainey and John McAllister claimed the final piece of silverware at the Ballymena Festival of Pool by winning the doubles crown.

They beat Malcolm Graffin and Brendan Graffin 5-3 in the final, to bring the curtain down on the festival at the Michelin Athletic Club.

Meanwhile, there was no change in race for the Ballymena Towers League title last week with neither of the top two teams in action.

The games between Connolly’s A v Connolly’s B and Fairhill Hustlers v Michelin Masters were both postponed and will be played at a later date.

Coach Bar 3, Fairhill Dreamers 3: Linzi McClelland got the away team off to a winning way when she beat Paul Gray by a 2-1 scoreline.

Dreamers doubled their lead when Sean Brannigan defeated KD Crabbe over three frames.

Coach pulled a game back when Davy Carlisle defeated Guy Rodgers in straight frames but Dreamers hit right back by winning game four through Ricky Allen who beat Davy Gillespie by a 2-1 scoreline.

In game five Raymond Lynn came from being one down to win 2-1 against Glenn Mairs, who had an eight-ball clearance in the first frame.

The last game went the way of the Coach when Darren Gilmore had a win in straight frames over Gareth Montgomery to earn a share of the spoils. POM - Darren Gilmore.

Ballee Rollers 3, Diamond Dazzlers 3: Ian Boal took the first game 2-1 for Diamond after losing the first frame against Colin McCaughern.

Ballee levelled the score when Dean Greer defeated Brendan O’Mullan by a 2-0 scoreline and then took the lead when Aaron Browne came from being one down to win 2-1 against Robert Artt.

In game four Adrian Rourke levelled the match at 2-2 when he beat Shane Hillis in straight frames with the help of an eight-ball clearance in frame two.

Chris Gordon put the Diamond back into the lead when he beat Josh McCrory in straight frames but in the final game Frazer Young defeated Malcolm Graffin to ties the scores at 3-3. POM - Frazer Young.

Michelin Inbetweeners 6, BUSC 0: The first game went to Ryan Logan who defeated John Fleck in straight frames and the lead was doubled by Gareth Rowe who had to come from behind to beat Eddie Fleck 2-1.

In game three it was the same as Finton Long won 2-1 against Marc McMullan but he also lost the first frame before Phil Houston beat Dennis Keenan in straight frames to make the match score 4-0.

The last two games were both won by 2-0 scorelines for the Inbetweeners there winners being Lee Wright and Gary Ormandy who defeated Ross Hill and Brian Boyd. POM - Ryan Logan.

Diamond Duffers 2, Ballee Black Ballers 4: Lewis Boyd put the Black Ballers ahead when he defeated Tam McMaster in straight frames. The second game went same way as the first game when Neil Weir defeated Chris McGarry also in straight frames.

In game three Jason Olgilvy came from behind to defeat Dean Robinson to make the match score 2-1.

Black Ballers restored the two game difference when Jimmy Barr defeated Matthew Peacock 2-1 after losing the first frame.

In game five Allister Law also had to come from behind to win 2-1 against Chris Nichol. In the final game Steven Anderson had a 2-0 win over Jason Weir to leave the final score 4-2. POM - Steven Anderson.
