CoD ladies host rugby ‘Taster Day’ at rugby club


It is aimed at getting women of all ages to try their hand at rugby, and to sign up for the coming season.
The taster session will get underway at 1pm with refreshments and food, and among the people they can interact with will be current players.

“We are starting up a youth team this year, so we are particularly looking for players aged 16 to 18 and need women in that age group, as well as women aged 18 and over for women’s seniors,” said spokeswoman Stacey Sloan.
The ladies have had a particularly good season, with the Women’s team moving up to the All-Ireland league, Division 2.
Those interested in joining women’s rugby will be encouraged to train on Tuesdays and Thursday evening from 7pm to 8.30pm. Training will involve skill development as well lots of game play as well as fitness sessions and circuit training.

“You do not have to have any great sporting or rugby experience. The aim of the women’s club is to have fun as well as take part in sport. We have a brilliant social life and take part in away matches. We are trying to build on the success of women’s rugby this year,” said Stacey.
