Dalriada defeat Armagh in the Cup

Dalriada Second XI played Armagh Royal away at Ardmore pitches in the Second XI Cup.

Dalriada had a good game and managed to beat Armagh 1-0 with the goal scored by left wing Olivia Cameron. Sara Jamison had a few good runs up the right wing in the second half and Tara McConaghie was a strong centre midfield throughout the match. The joint player of the match were Rachael Kennedy, left midfield and Emma Glenn, right back. The defence were very strong through a tough last 10 minutes and goal keeper, Annabel Steen, saved a penalty flick from Armagh. The team would like to thank Miss Wharry and Mrs Parke for coaching and umpiring.

At home on Saturday Dalriada played Foyle at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre. Dalriada came out with a 1-0 victory. An excellent goal was scored by Elle Kirgan, who plays centre midfield, in the second half. alriada had a few goal opportunities, but were stopped by Foyle’s strong line of defence. Laura Finnerty, centre forward for Dalriada, put great pressure on the Foyle players when they had the ball, and Milenka Rygielska, right back, made some great passes and tackles. Olivia Mullan, who played right midfield, let very few balls past her and had several shots at the goal. Cara Telfer, sweeper for Dalriada, remained calm when the ball came towards her, and got it straight back up the pitch. The team would like to thank Mr Bradley, Mrs Ruddock and Foyle’s coach for umpiring.

Dalriada U14B’s played against Foyle at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, running out 4-0 winners. Dalriada played well with the defenders making strong tackles against the advancing team. The mid-fielders carried the ball towards the oppositions goal and the forwards nearly scored many times. Player of the match was awarded to Katie Tutty, right forward, as she scored two out of the four goals, passed accurately and encouraged the team. The goals were scored by Katie Tutty, right forward, Rebecca Deans, left forward, and Darcy Winchbourne, left forward. Stephanie McCahon, centre back, made strong tackles and defended well. The team would like to thank Mrs Cutherson for coaching and guiding them throughout the match.

Dalriada U13 A

The Dalriada U13 A’s played a competitive match against Foyle at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre. The match came to an end with a penalty corner against Foyle. The Dalriads were close but the finishing score was 0-1 to Foyle. Anna-Jane Murphy (GK) made some excellent saves as well as Anna Kennedy (CM) and Niamh Donaghy (CF) who had some brilliant strikes. The team would like to thank Mrs Ruddock for umpiring and Mr Bradley, the coach.
