Discussions are at an advanced staged with the prospective new coach who, if appointed, will bring a wealth of experience - including time coaching in Super Rugby - as the Judges Road club seek to restructure its management team.

Terry McMaster, who took over the Head Coach role midway through last season will move to Technical Director of Rugby and oversee all levels of coaching within the club with Richard McCarter appointed Assistant Backs Coach and Jason Mitchell coming in as Assistant Forward Coach under the new man.

The club are currently in discussions with both the IRFU and Ulster Branch over the appointment and have yet to obtain a work visa but are hopeful the application will be successful.

The ongoing process of securing a new Head Coach has not deterred Derry from continuing preparations for the new season however with open side flanker John Burns and prop Graham Murphy among potential new players arriving at Judges Road.

Derry begin the new season in Ulster Bank League Division 2B after last season’s restructuring from four AIL divisions to five and will be among the front runners for promotion.
