Laurelvale 1

NO passion, no desire, no ideas.

That is the only way to describe Seapatrick's game against Laurelvale.

The Village got what they deserved from this game - absolutely nothing. They gave the ball away cheaply and for the second week in a row had no invention in front of goal.

Laurelvale were unlucky not to go one up after 10 minutes as they saw an effort flash past the Seapatrick goal. Shannon Drainey then lost possesion in the middle of the park and was relieved to see the Laurelvale attack break down.

It took Seapatrick 37 first half minutes to record their first effort on goal. Darren McGrath turned his marker and saw his effort just go wide and then Paul Fearon saw a chipped effort saved by the keeper after a great passing move.

The only goal of the game came nine minutes into the second half. Laurelvale's number 10 beat Davy Dawson for pace and as he skipped past several challenges inside the box fired an effort, taking a slight deflection into the bottom corner.

It was nearly two as the same player in a carbon copy of his previous effort fired narrowly wide. Adam Kerr then cleared a goal bound effort after a shot inside the box had eluded everyone else.

With 15 minutes remaining Seapatrick suddenly sprang into life. Stuart Cinnamon sailed past Laurelvale's centre half but saw his effort go wide.

A bit of quick thinking nearly brought about an equaliser. Aaron Buchanan played a quick free kick and Stephen Campbell unleashed an effort which the ‘keeper turned around the post.

With five minutes remaining Laurelvale should have doubled their lead. With Seapatrick pressing upfield for a leveller they were always going to be left exposed at the back, Laurelvale's substitute beat the offside trap and with Fletcher to beat, screwed well over the bar.

Seapatrick will need to drastically improve on this performance as they have three big league games at home in succession. Starting with Bourneview next week but before that they have a Mid Ulster Cup tie away to Glenavon on Tuesday night.

Team: Kris Fletcher, Adam Kerr, Aaron Buchanan, Marty Buchanan, Davy Dawson, Paul Frazer, Paul Fearon, Aaron McAvoy, Shannon Drainey, Gary McGrath, Darren McGrath, Stuart Cinnamon, Stephen Campbell, Clifford Sands.

- Seapatrick's players and committee would like to convey their deepest sympathy to player Bob Mulligan and his family circle on the recent passing of his grandfather.
