Sports stars set to flock to Fun Run

THE annual fun run organised by the Ballymoney branch of Cancer Research UK is taking place this year on Friday May 24 at its traditional venue in the Riverside Park.

Chief organiser, Mervyn Ferris, has done a great job for the past six years of the event, encouraging local sportsmen and women along with family members to come out in support.

Top runners from the Springwell Running Club will be taking part and Coleraine FC manager, Oran Kearney, is just one of the leading sportsmen who will be attending to lend his support.

And others set to take part include Irish Cup winner Stephen Carson from Glentoran as well as representatives from Glebe Rangers, Ballymoney United, Riada Rangers, Ballymoney Olympic and Balnamore and youth players.

From ice hockey there will be Andrew Dickson from Belfast Giants and rugby star Russell Blair.

Ballymoney Rugby Club will be well represented especially from the Under-17 and Under-19 sections and Ballymoney Hockey Club will have a presence.

Scorpion Boxing Club will also be in attendance.
