League hostilities resumed after the holiday break as Ballyrashane visited Megaw Park to face the Old Boys who were taking the field for only the second time in 7 weeks.

Ballyrashane were also much changed from the previous league encounter between these teams with old-stager Davy Campbell a notable sign of experience amongst an otherwise youthful squad.

With Steele and Gaston combining well the Old Boys took the lead when Gaston slotted home after 14 minutes.

James Steele made it two a couple of minutes later before Paul Holmes got his first after a lengthy blank spell. With Gaston showing some delightful touches the Old Boys notched another three before the break, the pick of which was a viciously struck half-volley from the big striker. Ballyrashane came out a different side at the star of the second half and took the game to their hosts.

However Holmes made it seven with a cross before the visitors deservedly pulled one back when Allen’s footwork was found wanting and Aaron McKendry’s shot nestled in the net.

The sides swapped goals as another Holmes cross found the net before Campbell got the goal his performance merited.

Steele then took centre stage completing his double hat-trick with three in the last 15 minutes to complete the day’s scoring.

Man of the Match: James Steele (Glebe Rangers Old Boys).
