Stir of echoes

NOTHING portrays hard work and rightfully earned praise more than the alter ego of our very own Joe Echo.

Broagh Road’s finest, the man known to family and friends as Ciaran Gribbin, is blazing a trail of success so rewarding we find it hard to keep up with everything going in his camp.

Which for a man who’s penned two film soundtracks (Heartless is out now and Killing Bono, starring Ben Barnes is out in early 2011) is a lot of catching up.

Word also has it that his own debut album Is shaping up nicely and could see the light of day before this year’s out or early into 2011 – and with styles ranging from dance to power-pop and back again, it’s an album we await with glee.

But we focus our attention on this week and the performer is getting ready to add another high profile support slot to his repertoire after opening to a certain Paul McCartney just a few months back, with support for Stereophonics at this year’s Belsonic festival.

The local performer joins the massive bill this Friday alongside the Welsh rockers, Kids In Glass Houses and many more – a gig for which, at the time of going to press, you could still get your hands on tickets for.

But it’s all in a day’s work for Mr Echo and co who will no doubt conquer and destroy yet again and have us writing more words in the next few weeks.

In fact, only for a late cancellation we would have been bringing you some more exciting news from the Echo camp this week, but that little nugget will have to remain under cover for a wee while yet.

Tickets for Belsonic are available online now from www.ticketmaster.ie
