The 19-year-old joined his fellow Team3M UK and Ireland riders, Connor Mc Convey and Elliott Porter, as they tackled the brand new addition to the UCI Continental circuit.

Dave came 25th overall out of over 90 riders, a fantastic achievement at such a young age.

The local cyclist was also the second Team3M rider to finish and the first of the Team3M UK and Ireland riders, with Connor Mc Convey 34th and Elliott Porter coming 43rd.

A former pupil of Banbridge Academy, Dave started cycling five years ago and is the reigning Irish Elite Men’s CX, U23 XC and British Universities Road Race Champion.

With around 80 days of racing on the UCI Continental Circuit in the season and all of the associated travelling, Dave is now looking forward to returning to Ireland this week for the An Post Ras, which starts on May 17.

This is Dave’s debut in the famous eight day stage race, but he will not be letting the pressure of being on home soil get to him as he focuses on doing what he needs to do for the team.

“I’m really looking forward to racing for eight days. The longest stage race I’ve been in was three days so it will be a bit of a challenge, but one I’m excited to take on.”
