Played in horrendous conditions, the Cookstown men led by 0-2 to 0-1 at the interval following a first half characterised by some poor shooting and decision making.

The standard of play improved markedly in the second half with Owen Mulligan and Matthew McGahan trading early points.

Murray’s goal, with 11 minutes remaining gave Cookstown a lead they never looked like surrendering, Raymond Mulgrew firing over two late points to help seal a 1-7 to 0-7 victory.
