NEWBUILDINGS United Reserves suffered their second league defeat of the season, this time losing 2-0 at Park.

Despite missing several players the away side held their own in the first half limiting Park to long range efforts from outside the box until a defensive mix up allowed the Park forward through on goal but the Newbuildings keeper was able to force him wide enough to allow the Newbuildings defenders time to get back and block the goalbound effort.

Park continued to press forward but Newbuildings held firm going into the interval on level terms. The second half again saw Park on the front foot, creating several chances but the away keeper was up to the challenge with a couple of fine saves.

The home side took the lead midway through the second half in somewhat fortunate circumstances when they were awarded a freekick 25 yards from goal which the Park forward took quickly stroking the ball into an empty net due to the away keeper lining up his wall which the referee had told to retreat 10 yards.

Newbuildings tired in the second half and Park double their lead on the counter-attack when a neat one two on the half way line saw their forward bear down on goal and despite the Newbuildings keeper saving his first effort the home striker collected the rebound and slotted home from close range making sure of all three points.

Newbuildings United Reserves are away to Eglinton in the league this Saturday.
