'˜We bossed large parts of the game but we didn't make it count'

Banbridge coach Mark Tumilty insists his side didn't deserve a 4-0 thrashing last weekend.

They were dispatched at Comber Road by IHL leaders Lisnagarvey thanks to goals from Andy Williamson, Timmy Cockram and two late strikes from Daniel Buser.

And Tumilty knows exactly what went wrong.

“I didn’t think it was a 4-0 game by any stretch,” he said.

“It probably sounds daft but I was actually quite pleased with how we performed.

“Garvey only had one corner and they scored. We won about nine but couldn’t make them count. That’s our big problem. The corners aren’t at the level that they were last season or that they need to be in the IHL.

“Tactically, we were good. We bossed large parts of the game but didn’t make it count. We had a lot of the ball in the circle but we didn’t look like scoring and they were clinical. They’re more ruthless than us but that’s the target of where we need to get to.

“It’s two matches in a row our keeper hasn’t touched the ball and we’ve conceded six goals. The goalkeepers haven’t even been at fault for the goals.”

Tumilty also had praise for the ‘fantastic’ Eugene Magee and Peter Brown.
