WE’VE SCOTT WHAT IT TAKES

On Tuesday evening Glebe went down 3-1 at home to Ards before Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Newry City at the Riada Stadium.

But despite the double blow, Scott says he is confident Glebe has what it takes to get their season on track in their forthcoming fixtures.

“Spirits are high,” he told Times Sport.

“I said at the end of this week with two big league games at home we will know where we are in the scheme of things.

“We have shown exactly, especially on Saturday against Newry - a side as good as we have come up against in my time here - where we are at, because to be quite honest Pat McGibbon was surprised just how good a side we are.

“He gave us nothing but praise after the game.

“You could see they are a decent side who will be there or thereabouts this year there is no question about that but you also seen the fact Glebe Rangers had the more clear cut chances which we didn’t convert.

“That’s the bottom line. Defensively I thought we were very strong on Saturday.

“A few individual errors cost us against Ards and at this level individual errors get punished and that’s the problem I have.

“If we can eradicate the individual errors we will be alright.

“I think we were absolutely fantastic on Saturday.

“We are ironing the mistakes out, improving with every game we play, if we get a wee bit more clinical and convert our chances results will take care of themselves.

“There are many things right in terms of our attitude, our application, in terms of quality of coaching the players are receiving on a weekly basis.

“The final thing we have to get right is the result but everything else is in place.

“Results will surely come.”

Glebe face Abbey Villa in the Steel and Sons Cup this Saturday and Scott is adamant his team won’t underestimate the opposition.

“Any game in this competition is a banana skin,” he said.

“You have teams coming down who are well organised and crammed with genuine football people trying to beat you.

“All of them fancy themselves to be the team which causes that upset.

“We will give them respect but it’s all about us doing our job and if we do we give ourselves a chance of winning the game.

“If we apply ourselves as we have been and are more clinical in front of goal we can match any team in this division.”
