What a swell day for open water swimmers at Portrush

THE annual West Bay Swim took place in Portrush when 13 open water swimmers battled through a big swell in a bid for glory.

In the men’s race last year’s winner Jon Glover immediately took the lead closely followed by the waterpolo trio of Colm Watters, Ronan McClean and Declan Kerr.

About half way across the bay Sean Campbell suddenly made a push and caught up with the chasing pack of 3 but Glover by this stage was too far ahead and crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 13 mins 20 secs to retain his crown.
