Matt’s fantastic: Get Woosy with the blues at Flowerfield

FLOWERFIELD welcomes the Portstewart debut appearance of an arresting new blues roots talent as Matt Woosey plays a gig here as part of a short Northern Ireland tour.

Matt Woosey (who plays the auditorium at Flowerfield at 8pm on Thursday August 21) has been described by one blues fan website as comparable to Rory Gallagher, and that’s high praise indeed – come to Portstewart to hear him and judge for yourself.

Woosey’s refreshing musical song writing and playing style combines acoustic blues, folk and rock conveyed with an accomplished vocal delivery which has been defined as ‘The Woosey Blues’.

His ability to combine originality with a broad musical knowledge has gained him praise from sources as varied as Paul Jones (BBC2) and Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) among others.

In addition to high octane blues performance, Matt also delivers some beautifully melodic material, and his powerful voice is allied to a superb guitar style, incorporating fingerstyle approaches alongside some blistering slide playing.

His onstage presence has to be seen, with such a strong singing voice that he barely needs any amplification making every gig a unique and entertaining experience.

Tickets for the Flowerfield show are prices at £10, which includes complimentary interval refreshments.

They’re available from reception at Flowerfield, or they can be booked using your credit or debit card over the phone on (028) 7083 1400.
