I hold the title of News Letter sports editor in Northern Ireland as part of the National World organisation.
Day-to-day responsibilities include steering our print and web coverage of sport in Northern Ireland, plus various print production roles.
As a journalist, my primary focus is on Irish League football but enjoy the opportunity to promote Northern Ireland sporting success across the board.
The chance to report on our athletes' record-breaking success at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was especially rewarding.
My career has included live reporting from international fixtures, domestic club finals and ties in European club competition.
I started a full-time career in sports journalism as a 19-year-old during January 1998 with my hometown newspaper, the award-winning Portadown Times.
Some highlights in weekly newspaper journalism as sports editor include the 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games (Craigavon's host status for Zimbabwe) and 'Alberto's Story' (Google short film based on my Portadown Times article highlighting how Google Translate was used by Portadown Youth FC to help integrate a young player from Spain).
In 2007 I was named Johnston Press (Northern Ireland) Sports Reporter of the Year.
I moved to the News Letter in 2016 as a sports reporter before promotions to senior sports reporter, deputy sports editor and, ultimately, sports editor.
Interests outside of work include supporting Liverpool FC, a keen interest in film and television culture and love of music (in particular, Bruce Springsteen).
