City of Derry Airport team up with Airporter

Passengers in the city can now avail of a direct service to and from the City of Derry Airport thanks to local firm Airporter who have secured a license to transport passengers to the Airport from 01 April this year.

Welcoming the news, the Airport Manager Damien Tierney, said the partnership was a very positive development providing a permanent link between the airport and the city. “We are delighted to announce this partnership with Airporter and are pleased that a local company will be providing a dedicated support service to our passengers. The direct link public transport service to the city will be of huge benefit to passengers using the airport as we prepare for a busy spring and summer season in 2012 and prepare for becoming the first UK City of Culture in 2013.”

Airporter Director Niall McKeever said that he and his staff were delighted at the news “We will provide a dedicated, direct service to and from the airport. It is a flight specific service which means we will meet every departure and arrival at the airport. This is our commitment to the people of the city and to City of Culture year. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the airport in modern, luxury coaches and taken in comfort to the heart of the city. We are hopeful the new service will start 1st April and are really excited about this new chapter in the Airporter story.”
