Mayor congratulates Drumlough Pipe Band on recent success at special reception
The Mayor of Lisburn and Castlereagh, Councillor Brian Higginson, recently welcomed members of Drumlough Pipe Band to the council headquarters at Lagan Valley Island.
Mr Higginson held a special Mayoral reception to congratulate the local band on its recent success at the World Pipe Band Championships, which were held recently in Glasgow.
At the championships, Drumlough Pipe Band was crowned as champion in the Grade 3B category.
Congratulating the band on their success over the past year, Mr Higginson said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome members of Drumlough Pipe Band to the Mayor’s Parlour at Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for a civic reception in recognition of their outstanding achievements throughout 2026.
"A particular highlight was celebrating the band’s fantastic success in being crowned Grade 3B World Pipe Band Champions at Glasgow Green in 2026 – a tremendous achievement and a proud moment for the band and our local community.”
The reception also recognised the achievements of the band’s talented soloists, whose individual successes are equally deserving of congratulations.
Mr Higginson continued: “I was delighted to host this reception and acknowledge the dedication, commitment and hard work that go into achieving success at the highest level of competition.
"My thanks go to Councillor Uel Mackin for nominating the band for this recognition and for his continued support.
"On behalf of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, I extend my warmest congratulations to everyone at Drumlough Pipe Band on a wonderful year. We wish the band and its soloists every success for the future.”
