An intoxicated man was aggressive and shouted and swore in the faces of police officers in Carnlough, a court was told.

The 43-year-old has pleaded guilty to being disorderly and resisting police on July 14 this year.

Police had attended an address in Carnlough regarding a "possible disturbance".

He was "intoxicated" and was "shouting and swearing in the police officers' faces". When placed in handcuffs he resisted as he was being put into a police vehicle.

Ballymena Magistrates Court was told that the defendant had 49 previous convictions. A defence barrister said that the defendant was aware his "liberty was at stake".

District Judge Nigel Broderick said that O'Neill had been "ruled out" of Probation and Community Service and handed down a four months prison term, suspended for a year.
