In a Facebook post, Carrickfergus Rugby Football Club indicated it would provide the use of its car park for the facility from Monday morning.

"Mobile testing units are short-term testing sites that are being mobilised across Northern Ireland in response to need, or to provide increased local testing capacity," said a spokesperson for the Public Health Agency.

"There are no plans as yet for further testing sites in [the East Antrim] area."

The Carrick site is initially planned to operate for one week.

Meanwhile, fixed testing sites in Belfast, Londonderry, Craigavon and Enniskillen remain in operation.

"Everyone in Northern Ireland with symptoms of Covid-19 is now eligible for testing," the PHA spokesperson added.

"Pre-booking is required at all Covid-19 test sites in Northern Ireland."
