Plans to turn bridal boutique into dental practice submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Council
Plans for a change of use from a bridal boutique to a dental practice in Coleraine have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Council.
The plans, for 7 Lodge Road in Coleraine, are for a “proposed change of use of the existing bridal boutique and office accommodation to a dental practice, including minor external alterations comprising the installation of roof windows and solar PV panels, together with associated works to the existing forecourt to improve accessibility”.
A Design and Access Statement said: “The property was previously used as a solicitor's office and subsequently as a bridal shop, following planning approval granted in December 2018.
"The building is currently vacant, and the proposal seeks to bring it back into productive use as a dental practice, involving primarily internal alterations with limited external works, including the installation of a new conservation-style rooflight, replacement of an existing front elevation roof window with a conservation-style rooflight, installation of solar photovoltaic panels and improvements to the existing entrance approach.

“The proposed change of use of No. 7 Lodge Road, Coleraine, to a dental practice represents an appropriate and sustainable reuse of an existing vacant commercial property.
"The development will provide a valuable healthcare service within an accessible urban location, supported by established public parking and transport infrastructure.
"The proposed works have been carefully considered to respect and retain the traditional architectural character of the existing building.”
The application will now go to the Planning Committee of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for consideration.
