Londonderry man who dressed Naomi Campbell comes home for Hallowe’en

THE man who has designed for supermodels, Presidents and Princesses is returning to his roots for Londonderry’s Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Catwalk Challenge.

Jen Kelly has designed for Naomi Campbell, Mary McAleese and the Princess of Saudi Arabia, has created the costumes for Riverdance and regularly shows his collections in New York and Japan.

The Londonderry native has earned himself global recognition in designing tailored Couture pieces for his clients.

Couture, he explains, goes beyond designing and is about timeless, lifelong style. The Hallowe’en Catwalk challenge offers young designers the opportunity to create one-off pieces ‘Couture’ pieces in the sense they are offering a creation that is totally unique for that time and situation.

Joe Carlin, Creative Events announcing the fourth and final member of the panel said: “It is an honour for me to be sitting alongside Jen Kelly, his passion for designing couture collections and intrinsic eye for detail, along with the powerhouse that is the Hemingway’s will be sure to pick out the very best shining talent on offer.”

Budding designers taking on the ‘Shape Shifting’ themed design challenge will be strutting their stuff on the Catwalk in front of a celebrity judging panel, when Jen Kelly, Irelands only Couture designer, joins Wayne Hemingway to select the Best in Show at the prestige event on October 27, in the Craft Village.

The Catwalk will start at 8pm followed by a full night of entertainment. The winners of each respective category will be invited to model their creations at pride of place in the Carnival Parade on Wednesday, October 31.
