Ballymoney Arthritis Care end season

THE Ballymoney Branch of Arthritis Care held the last meeting of the 2009/10 season on Wednesday night.

The members were entertained by magician Harry Meadows and his audience were enthralled at the amazing tricks performed. A Bean Bag competition was held during the year and a plaque was presented to the winner Marty Moore.

Best hand painted egg was won by Glynnis McClements and 18 members were presented with certificates for taking part in an Amble for Arthritis in which an amount in excess of 600 was raised to be used by the charity for the benefit of all people with arthritis in Northern Ireland.

It has now been proven that gentle exercise is beneficial for people with arthritis and the Ballymoney Branch has fun and exercise on their agenda for the 2010/11 season in the form of Boccia, New Age Kurling and chair-based exercises.

New members will be made welcome and our meetings are held in the Millbrook Resource Centre, 7.30pm until 9.30pm on the first Wednesday of every month starting on September 1 2010.

Members hope to have an information day in Ballymoney during the summer to highlight the work of Arthritis Care and more information can be given about the local branch in Ballymoney. The branch is open to all ages and to both male and female as arthritis has no barriers.

The branch would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported and contributed so generously.

In particular, members would like to acknowledge ASDA in Coleraine for making the collection day possible and for everyone who helped on Thursday last. Many thanks to all who donated and to all who gave their time to help collect. The total of 708 raised was excellent.
