Residents held downstairs as masked gang burgles Newtownabbey home

Detectives are appealing for information after a report of a burglary at residential premises at the Whitewell Road area of Newtownabbey on Friday (March 5).

Detective Sergeant Kitchen said: “At around 8.30pm, it was reported that five masked men entered a house in the area. A man in his 80s and a man in his 50s were inside the house at the time and were kept downstairs by three of the men, with the other two men searching the upstairs of the property.

“The men then left the house with nothing believed to have been taken during the incident.

“The males are described as wearing gloves, black clothing and masks during the incident.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident, and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 2158 05/03/21.
