Cunningham giveswelcome for newRathlin Island Walks

Moyle SDLP Councillor Dónal Cunningham has welcomed the news from WalkNI.com announcing four new quality walks on Rathlin Island,

The new walks join the already existing Rathlin Trail and Roonivoolin Walk to provide just under 20 miles of walking on the island.

Councillor Cunningham continued: “With nearly 20 miles of walks on Rathlin and a whole host more in the Ballycastle area, this is a great opportunity for a short walking break to this area of outstanding natural beauty, we need to make sure that market the area is properly marketed so that we capture the vast interest that exists for short walking breaks .”

The new walks include the Ballyconaghan Trail - a 1.8 mile circular walk will take walkers to Rathlin’s north.

The Kebble Cliff Walk - Taking in the south of the island with stunning views of dramatic sea cliffs and of Ballycastle beyond, this 1.9 mile circular walk passes Bull Point, near to where Richard Branson crash landed his hot air balloon in 1987, on his record breaking transatlantic flight.

The Kinramer North Walk - the 2.1 mile circular walk also through Kebble Nature Reserve features sections through rough terrain, with steep slopes providing walkers with amazing views of dramatic sea cliffs. 

The Kinramer Trail - This 1.9 mile circular walk crosses open field, boardwalk and cliff top with views of basalt columns, the same in structure to those found at the Giant’s Causeway.
