Cyclist injured in tractor overtaking incident

Police in Limavady are on the lookout for a driver who caused a female cyclist to fall from her bicycle by attempting to overtake a tractor in oncoming traffic.

A police spokesperson said: “On Monday, June 23, at about 8.15am, the 17-year-old was cycling on the Glenshane Road in the direction of Claudy, convenient to Ness Nurseries when a blue vehicle overtook her.

“This vehicle then attempted to overtake a tractor, and on seeing that there was oncoming traffic, pulled back over in such a way that it caused the cyclist to fall off her bicycle, resulting in several injuries.

“Any help identifying the driver of this vehicle, believed to be a blue Ford, would be appreciated. Police can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101.”
