Causeway Coast and Glens residents are invited to a free screening of ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ – a film exploring the challenges of climate change and the loss of nature.

Based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, the film features contributions from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and a range of voices from across the UK. The briefing has also featured in coverage by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins said: “The screenings provide an opportunity for residents to hear from leading experts and learn more about the challenges we face in relation to climate change and the loss of nature.

“These issues affect us all, from the extreme weather we experience to the food we eat, our health and the cost of living. Understanding the evidence is an important step in recognising the impact these changes can have on our everyday lives.

“I would encourage people to come along, watch the film and take part in the discussion afterwards about what these issues mean for our local communities and the practical steps we can take to help protect our environment and shape a more sustainable future.”

Each screening will be followed by a short, open discussion, giving attendees an opportunity to consider the implications for the local area and explore what can be done at community level.

The free screenings will take place at the following venues, with all events starting at 5.30pm:

Ballymoney Town Hall – Tuesday 20 October; Coleraine Town Hall – Thursday 22 October; Corrymeela, Ballycastle – Thursday 5 November and Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Limavady – Wednesday 11 November.

Admission is free, but places are limited and advance booking is recommended. To reserve a place, visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/ and search for the Causeway Coast and Glens screenings.
