Jill opens NI's first social media agency

A CARRICK woman is one of three experienced marketing communicators who have opened Navajo Talk, Northern Ireland's first dedicated social media agency.

Jill Culbertson, an e-commerce guru expert, has spent the last five years in London directing e-commerce strategy and campaigns for leading retailers such as Beaverbrooks the Jewellers, Levis - Europe, TM Lewin, Pets at Home and Liverpool Football Club. She has been joined at Navajo Talk by Tim McKane, a well-known local advertising personality and Des Brown, a former head of Marketing at BT Ireland.

The company will devise and implement strategic campaigns for organisations wishing to tap into a massive and growing global market.

Recognised as one of the leading social media experts in the UK, Jill, was asked to speak at the leading catalogue and home shopping ECMOD conference in London earlier this month on the evaluation of social media campaigns.

She said: “It was an honour to be invited to speak at ECMOD and talk about how you track, measure and implement successful social media campaigns. Whilst a growing number of retailers are now engaged in e-commerce, there is a lack of understanding of how to best use social media, how it can be managed and resourced, and what metrics should be used to measure success - that’s where Navajo Talk comes in.”

Navajo Talk’s opening has already caused a stir in the UK social media market, with the agency winning pitches and due to begin work next month with three leading UK-wide retailers.

Mr McKane said: “No marketing strategy these days is complete without an online element and with 40 per cent of consumers now using social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter to communicate, it’s an audience both the private and public sector cannot ignore.”
