New survey highlights scale of mobile coverage challenges in locations across Mid Ulster area - Mallaghan
Sinn Féin MP Cathal Mallaghan has said the findings from a new survey of mobile coverage underline the urgent need for greater investment in rural connectivity across Mid Ulster.
New research published by Streetwave found that the four mobile networks achieved Good Performance at an average of just 34% of locations measured across Mid Ulster.

He said: “Poor mobile connectivity remains a daily frustration for some parts of Mid Ulster and is holding people back from fully participating in work, education and economic opportunities.
"Reliable mobile coverage is an essential service and people should not be disadvantaged because of where they live.
"This year, I have engaged directly with network providers to highlight concerns raised by constituents, businesses and farming communities across the constituency.
"In meetings with both VodafoneThree and Virgin Media O2, we were advised of investment programmes aimed at improving coverage, capacity and reliability in the years ahead.
"The discussions included planned upgrades to network infrastructure and future investment intended to improve connectivity.”
