Lunch time DVA protest

Following last week’s announcement by the Coalition Government to proceed with the closure of all local vehicle licensing offices - staff from County Hall will march to Coleraine Town Hall at 12.15 today.

NIPSA Assistant Secretary, Ryan McKinney said: “This Government needs to understand that we will be defending these jobs and the service, the campaign is far from finished. NIPSA is calling on the NI Executive to step up efforts to devolve vehicle licensing to Northern Ireland or else secure other civil service work for existing staff.

“There is unanimous support from the local community, business and political representatives for our campaign to save these jobs and we expect that to manifest on the streets on Friday.

“We will not be turning our backs on the Causeway Coast as this Government seems content to do.”
