Deep clean ahead of children’s play parks reopening

More than 90 children’s play parks will be reopened as COVID-19 restrictions are eased.

At a meeting of the Council on Monday night, councillors agreed to reopen the play parks across the district on Saturday July 10..

It followed guidance from the NI Executive Office.

The playpark at the People’s Park as well as those at Drumilly Green Play Park, Brownstown Play Park, Maghery Play Park, Killicomaine Play Park and Tannaghmore Gardens to name but a few will be reopening.

Play parks across Lurgan, Craigavon, and smaller towns such as Tandragee and Richhill will be reopening.

Plans are in place to make sure they’re all cleaned in advance.

DUP Cllr Margaret Tinsley said: “I am delighted that our Play Parks will be opening again across the ABC area from the 10th July.

“With 90 play parks please bear with us as it will take time to prepare them all for reopening.”

SDLP Cllr Declan McAlinden welcomed the reopening of play parks across the district.

He said: “Play parks such as Tannaghmore Gardens, Kinnegoe Marina, Maghery Play Park, Aghagallon Play Park and further afield will open from Saturday 10th July.

“Plans are in place to make sure they’re all cleaned in advance.

“We’ve over 90 across the council area so stick with us if there’s a slight delay in one or two locations.”
