Robinson’s Shoemakers was established in the town in 1954, starting life as a humble shoe repair shop.

Robinson’s opened its second store in the prestigious Queen’s Arcade, Belfast in July 2018 and following its success is now relocating from its current premises in West Street to the historic castle-front location.

CEO and Carrickfergus man, Robin Stewart said: “We’ve always remained loyal to our Carrickfergus roots. The Kelly’s Coal building has been a landmark in the town for over a century, so when the opportunity came up for us to rent this historic building and simultaneously launch our outlet store it was too good to pass up. We’re extremely excited about this new venture and as a local company are proud to be supporting regeneration in the town.”

The Kelly’s Coal office has recently undergone an extensive restoration project with funds from the Carrickfergus Townscape Heritage Initiative, supported by Heritage Lottery Funding and Mid and East Antrim Council.

The new outlet will open on Monday, March 2 at 10am. It will stock end of line styles from high-end footwear brands such as Barker, Dubarry, Steptronic and R.M. Williams.
