New takeaway app Larne Eats to support local businesses

A former Larne Skills pupil has launched a brand-new food ordering app in a bid to support takeaway businesses in the area.

Created by local entrepreneur Andrew Creighton, Larne Eats went live on Sunday, July 26.

The app aims to provide residents with a simple, modern way to order food through their smartphones.

“We want to give local takeaways the same opportunity as larger chains by providing a modern ordering platform that supports local businesses while giving customers the convenience they want,” Andrew said.

Larne Eats will use each takeaway’s own drivers wherever possible, he added: “We’re a local business helping other local businesses. The money stays in the local economy, local jobs are supported and customers still get the convenience of ordering through an app.”

He also stressed that no business will appear on the Larne Eats app without its permission. “We’ll never list a takeaway without their consent. We want to work alongside local businesses, not against them.”

Acknowledging that launching something new can always attract criticism, Andrew said the overwhelming response from the community has nevertheless been positive: “The support we’ve received from residents and local businesses has been incredible.”

As part of its community commitment, Larne Eats plans to work closely with local organisations, including Larne Football Club, Larne Recruitment Centre, Larne High School and a range of community groups and charities.

The app follows the success of sister platforms including Carrick Eats, which launched in 2023, along with Ballymena Eats, Causeway Eats, Newtownabbey Eats, Bangor Eats and Newtownards Eats.
