Plans for glamping pods 100m from Portstewart Golf Club submitted to Causeway Coast & Glens Council
Plans for a new holiday glamping park close to Portstewart Golf Club have been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
Council recently received a planning application for six glamping pods, as well as an equipment store, relaxation space, parking and all associated site works, on lands close to Coleraine Road.

An accompanying Planning Statement said the proposed site is located 400 metres south of the settlement development limit of Portstewart and lies within the within the Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
“This application proposes the provision of a new holiday park, in proximity to several tourist destinations and attractions,” the Statement added. “The proposed site is located approximately 15 miles from Portrush and would help to cater for the accommodation needs of tourists, domestic and otherwise, visiting the attractions in this area.
“The Lower River Bann is also noted within the area plan, which is very popular with water sports enthusiasts, anglers and cruisers. Golfing remains a huge draw and attraction in the North Coast with Portrush and Portstewart being particularly attractive destinations for tourists.
“This was evident during the summer of 2025 when the Open Golf tournament was staged in Royal Portrush, bringing with it huge demand for accommodation in the area.
“The proposal would help cater for such events and scenarios which it is expected will occur on a more regular basis. Furthermore, the course at Portstewart Golf Club, a popular golfing destination, is located no more than 100 metres from the application site.
“This existing tourist amenity could benefit from the increased volume of rural tourism bed spaces that would become available as a result of this proposal.”
