Rock Choir mystery bus tour features Game of Thrones Studio performance

Rock Choir members from Craigavon, Portadown, Banbridge and Newry enjoyed a mystery bus tour around Northern Ireland, which included a performance at the Game of Thrones Studio Tour visitor attraction.

The tour was led by Rock Choir leader Beth McNally, who made sure there were plenty of surprises en route for the 50 Rockies who headed off for the day trip with just their Rock Choir uniform and a packed lunch, for the day-long adventure.

The first stop on the tour was the Game of Thrones Studio Tour - where fans of the hit fantasy series get to step behind the scenes, viewing sets, props and costumes from the award-winning show.

Rockies performed in the Great Hall and visitors gathered to watch them sing ‘Hold the Line’ and ‘I’ll Be There For You’.

Beth commented: “We had a great audience at the studio tour, so it was a brilliant way to kick off the day.”

The next stop was Gosford Forest Park, where the Rockies walked to a peaceful spot in the forest, gathered in a circle and sang to each other.

"It was actually very emotional and there were a lot of tears. We sang ‘Someone You Loved’ and ‘A Thousand Years’,” commented Beth.

The Rockies’ next location during the day trip was the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium - the perfect setting for a pop-up performance of the hit song ‘Space Man’, which was added to the Rock Choir song repertoire recently and quickly became a firm favourite.

The final stop of the day was Warrenpoint Loughside Festival, a popular community festival.

"It’s an annual event and it takes place in the middle of the Town Square. We performed there for an hour - we finished the day on a high,” Beth added.

Rock Choir, the world’s largest contemporary choir experience, launched in Northern Ireland four years ago. It has since gone from strength-to-strength, with more choirs launching to meet demand.

Now’s the time to sign up for a free taster session as Rockies will be heading back to rehearsals, starting the week beginning Monday, September 14. There is no need to audition or read music and everyone is welcome. To book a free taster session go to www.rockchoir.com
