'Permit needed' to park in Pedestrian Zones

The Department for Infrastructure has issued a reminder over parking rules for Blue Badge holders.

It comes after queries were raised locally over available concessions for badge holders, including whether they can park in a Pedestrian Zones.

Confirming a separate permit is needed for these particular areas, a DfI spokesperson said: “Only vehicles displaying a valid permit may park in a Pedestrian Zone.

"Permits to park in the Carrickfergus Pedestrian Zone can be obtained by phoning nidirect at 028 9054 0540 and asking to be put through to the Pedestrian Zone permit application section for Northern Division in County Hall, Coleraine.”

Full guidance on where Blue Badge holders are permitted to park in available on the nidirect website, the Department added.
