Solar eclipse passes over Bow Street

Bow Street descended into near darkness as the partial solar eclipse arrived earlier this morning.
A complete solar eclipse.A complete solar eclipse.
A complete solar eclipse.

The sky darkened in parts and just a sliver of the sun was visible to the shoppers and workers who took to the streets to witness the partial solar eclipse - the last chance in more than a decade to witness such a celestial event.

From our spot on the globe we saw a 95 per cent eclipse, while viewers in the far west of Ireland and most northern parts of Scotland were due to witness a 98 per cent eclipse, with Arctic regions and the Faroe Islands seeing a total eclipse.

For this area the eclipse reached its maximum at 9.30am, the entire celestial event will last around two hours.
