Tenders sought for airport lighting investigation

FIRMS are being invited to tender for a contract to perform a site investigation at City of Derry Airport ahead of the installation of a new aeronautical lighting system that will require the boring of holes into the mud flats of Lough Foyle.

The tender is being advertised by Derry City Council and applications must return completed tenders by next month.

A notice by the local authority states: "A site investigation is required in connection with the proposed works to the aeronautical lighting system at City of Derry Airport.

"The scope of the works includes the sinking of boreholes within the mud flats of the tidal estuary of Lough Foyle.

"It should be noted that the work will be undertaken within the site of an operational airport facility and will require adherence to specific Airport/CCA requirements and procedures."
