Waterside man Matthew Boyle, aged 37, who was reported missing by family and friends earlier this week after a fortnight stint incommunicado in South East Asia, has been located safe and well.

Mr Boyle, a businessman, who is originally from the Belt Road area of the Waterside, but who has been living in Bangkok since 2011, hadn’t been in touch with his family since July 8, which was an unusual hiatus and sparked anxiety amongst loved ones.

However, following a general media appeal, a Bangkok-based publican Tim Richardson, who runs the Molly Malone’s Irish pub in the Silom central business district of the Thai capital, eventually made contact with Mr Boyle’s family affirming that he had seen him there.

His cousin Brian Melarkey told media on Tuesday that his family had spoken to him and that they wished to let as many people know as possible that there had been a happy conclusion to what must have been a traumatic few days.
