Lisburn book their place in T20 semi finals

On the brighter side, Lisburn qualified for the semi-final stage of the Twenty20 with a very tight 5 run win over Civil Service North at Stormont last Friday evening.

Batting first, Lisburn lost Simon Olphert early but professional Cody Chetty and Robert Rankin added 74 in quick time before Rankin was bowled for 33.

Chetty and Stevie Lazars continued the good work with another sizeable stand of 40 in just 6 overs before Lazars was stumped for 23.

Chetty completed another 20/20 half century a few balls later and when he was caught for 61 he had struck 5 boundaries and two sixes.

Lisburn finished their 20 overs with a challenging total of 152 with Davey Simpson 12 not out at the end of the innings.

Lisburn had CSNI 27 for 3 before their pro Amjad and van de Merwe added a 47 for the 4th wicket before Amjad was caught off Davey Simpson and van de Merwe for 28.

It was left to McCarter and Park to scare Lisburn with an unbeaten stand of 67 but they could not take their team over the winning line falling just 5 runs short at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

Lisburn now have a home draw in the Twenty20 competition facing Carrickfergus in the Park on Saturday 9th July.
