Carrick travelled to Woodvale for their first-ever league match at Ballygomartin Road on Saturday for what turned out to be a forgettable occasion as they slumped to a disappointing five-wicket defeat.

The visitors batted first on a wicket giving some assistance to the bowlers, and were soon in trouble with top batsmen Gilmour, Taiaroa, Haggan and Delport all back in the pavilion with only 26 runs on the board.

Skipper Iain Parkhill could only watch as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals at the other end. When he eventually became the last Carrick wicket to fall, having contributed a determined 46 runs, he was the only Carrick batsman to reach double figures as they were dismissed in the 46th over for a paltry 110 runs.

However, Paul Robinson and Tim Browne steadied things for their side, and with plenty of overs left. They saw Woodvale safely past the meagre Carrick total in the 38th over without further loss.
