DARTS: Gurney loses to Michael van Gerwen in semi-final

The Tullyally man, who defeated World Champion Gary Anderson on Saturday night at the Players Championship competition, was knocked out by world number one Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final yesterday.

The Dutch man seen Gurney off 13-2 in the last four encounter, before defeating Adrian Lewis in the final.

Gurney, seen off Beligum’s Kim Huybrechts, before defeating Anderson and then Benito van de Pas to make the semi-finals.

Meanwhile the 29-year-old has been drawn to face Jamie Lewis in next month’s William Hill World Darts Championship, which takes place in London’s Alexandra Palace from December 17 until January 3.
